Boy, 9, Killed in Hempstead County ATV Accident on Hempstead County Road 5

Hempstead County, AK. – A 9-year-old boy from Spring Hill died in an ATV accident on Monday evening in Hempstead.

According to Arkansas State Police, the accident occurred around 4:29 p.m. on Hempstead County Road 5.

A 2019 model Polaris Ranger was southbound on Hempstead County Road 5 when it left the roadway and entered a ditch on the west side of the roadway.

The ATV crashed into a culvert and overturned on the driver’s side.

The 9-year-old passenger of the ATV was killed in the accident.

Two other minors, including the victim’s sister and a second passenger, were injured and were taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
