Retired Officer Killed in Green Bay ATV Accident on Shawano Line Rd at Nelson Rd
Green Bay, WI. – A retired Green Bay police officer died in an ATV accident last month near the Town of Gillett.
According to a statement by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Shawano Line Road at Nelson Road at around 7 p.m., October 25.
The 60-year-old man was riding his ATV on Shawano Line Road when he was hit by a silver 2007 GMC Acadia SUV.
The officer, who served at the Green Bay Police Department between 2000 and 2018, died at the accident scene.
The 32-year-old man who was driving the SUV fled the scene of the accident on foot but was eventually arrested at a hotel in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
